The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations revealed 9 royal nuggets for all business owners.

Keep it simple
On her 21st birthday Princess Elizabeth broadcast a simple, yet powerful message.

“I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and to the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong.”

The “imperial family” reference sounds Victorian and way out of date. It just shows how much has changed. Ignoring that, the message is still relevant today.

In her next breath she immediately sought support.

“But I shall not have strength to carry out this resolution alone, unless you join in it with me, as I now invite you to do.”

And during her long reign she’s needed her fair share of support.

My own youthful republican beliefs have mellowed. Who would want the constant scrutiny and rigid protocol of the Queens existence? Not me. And the thought of a popularity-seeking, sound-bite driven politician rising to a presidential role fills me with dread.

I admire the Queen and respect her devotion to do her duty. She sets an example that should be copied by all aspiring business owners.
